Zee Poerio is the k-8 Computer teacher, 7th & 8 grade Exploratory Classics teacher, and advisor for the Student Technology Team at St. Louise de Marillac Catholic School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she has been teaching for 24 years. Serving as a Teacher Ambassador for CREATE Lab at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute, outreach Director for Ancient Coins for Education, Inc., and on multiple committees for the American Classical League, Zee’s passion is connecting modern technology with ancient studies. @MagistraZee loves learning, sharing, and presenting at local, state, and national conferences including TRETC, PETE&C, PSMLA, CUE, NYSCATE, and ISTE. She is a TouchCast Star Ambassador, Alpha Squirrel, BrainPop Certified Educator, and a Padcaster Distinguished Educator. Zee was named the 2020 Carnegie Science Award Middle Level Educator Winner. She served on the 100Kin10 Teacher Forum in 2020 and has been honored with a 2017 ACL Merita Award, an 2017 NCEA LLP Teacher Excellence Award, as well as the 2014 PAECT (Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications and Technology) Teacher of the Year, 2014 Keystone Star Technology Innovator, and a 2015 KTI Lead Learner for the 2015 Keystone Star Summit. This year she is excited to be part of the COSA (Clinic for Open Source Arts) Community Leaders program.
